Animesh Sahai - Bring it on!

If I tell you that I clock 100 km a week, what will come to your mind first?

Maybe you will think, “I have a lot of free time”, “I have a super easy and chilled job”, “I don’t have any other work to do”, or “I sleep the whole day after running so much”, Right?

Hi, I am Animesh, working for the media industry which is known as one of the most challenging fields, I stay in Mumbai, commuting a minimum of 3 hours daily, and on top of that, I am training to run Comrades this year. Welcome to my life and this is my story which I am very proud to own and narrate 😊.

I had never imagined I would run, forget about doing a Comrades. Coming from an academic-influenced family, running never figured in my larger scheme of things. However, when a family member started running it kind of rubbed on me as well. Also, the fact that I was struggling to climb four flights of stairs without panting was a huge wake-up call for me.

Running compliments my personality. I am a selected introvert; I prefer to be in an environment where I don’t have to talk much. A solo run gives me my “me time” and to be in my own thoughts.

Another thing about running I love is that running is an activity that is “free of any instructions”. It is the most natural form of human activity. Otherwise, we spend our whole day taking or following instructions be it from seniors at work, or at home from family members. Running brings me peace.

Running is the simplest form of exercise, just “put one step in front of the other” 😊. This simple mantra has helped me run multiple HMs and FMs and Ultras. I love taking challenges, when something looks impossible prima facie, I like to take it up as a challenge and conquer it.

Hence, when I came to know about the Comrades, I knew I have to do this. And just like that universe put me in touch with the right group, right mentor, and right nutritionist, as if everything was just meant to be.Can there be a truer and greater example of the saying “When you want something, the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it”, than this? 😊
